What happened
VIA University College in Aarhus is taking applications for Generative and Hybrid Filmmaking, a one-semester course in English. The spring 2027 semester runs from February to early June, and the programme brochure gives 1 November as its application deadline.
The course has three 10 ECTS modules covering creative methods and collaborative practice, film development and visualisation with generative AI, and generative and hybrid film production. Ethics, intellectual property and copyright sit in the syllabus. Students work in VIA's AI Frontier Lab, which has an LED screen and XR equipment.
Why it matters
For a European film or media student with two completed undergraduate years, the course offers a full semester of credit in generative practice. Applicants need B2 English and a portfolio. Students whose school has an exchange agreement with VIA's Department of Storytelling, Design and Business pay no tuition but need a home-institution nomination. Free movers pay €8,028, a figure VIA says may change. Facts as of 21 October 2026.
Still open
VIA's general exchange page lists 1 October for nominations and 15 October for spring applications, and notes that some programmes set other dates. VIA does not publish the number of places.
For your film
Before 1 November, ask your international office whether your school has an agreement with VIA, and confirm the deadline with transmedia@via.dk.
