# EuGFA

> European Generative Film Association (EuGFA), based in Tallinn and working across Europe. Publisher of The Briefing and organiser of New Frames.

EuGFA is a European home for generative film, audiovisual creation and the artists shaping what comes next. New Frames is its European student AI short film competition. The Briefing is a weekly series of articles on generative film in Europe. Each link below is a markdown version of a public page.

## EuGFA

- [Home](https://eugfa.org/index.md): Mission, focus areas and upcoming events.
- [The Briefing](https://eugfa.org/briefing.md): A weekly briefing on generative film in Europe: what happened, why it matters and what is still open. Every article in the email is published here too.
- [Workshops](https://eugfa.org/workshops.md): Live workshops on generative short-film craft — story, process and authorship, not feed content.
- [Discourse](https://eugfa.org/discourse.md): Public essays, guides and research that treat generative film as art and practice — selected and annotated by EuGFA. We do not publish original longform yet; the curation is the contribution.
- [Epitaph of the author](https://eugfa.org/discourse/epitaph-of-the-author.md): A clear walk through authorship and copyright questions when generative tools enter film. Useful when you need language beyond “the AI made it.”
- [Ethical Canvas of Generative AI in Art](https://eugfa.org/discourse/ethical-canvas-generative-ai-art.md): Practical ethical checkpoints — transparency, bias, human oversight — written from a European AI film festival context rather than a product blog.
- [Implications of generative AI in cinematic narrative and aesthetics](https://eugfa.org/discourse/analisi-genai-narrative-aesthetics.md): Open study of OpenDocs and +RAIN submissions: how makers actually use GenAI in shorts, and what ethical and aesthetic patterns show up in the field.
- [¿Una ética para la IA? Mesa redonda — +RAIN 2023](https://eugfa.org/discourse/comparative-cinema-rain-ethics-2023.md): Entry point to a festival roundtable on ethics and authorship in generative audiovisual creation — European research culture meeting festival practice.
- [Artificial Aesthetics: Generative AI, Art and Visual Media](https://eugfa.org/discourse/manovich-artificial-aesthetics.md): Free book-length inquiry into generative media, aesthetics and authorship. Dense, but the right depth when the field needs more than tool tips.
- [Responsible Practices for Synthetic Media](https://eugfa.org/discourse/pai-synthetic-media.md): Consent, disclosure and transparency framed for makers and platforms. Strong reference when building process notes or festival disclosure language.
- [AI Disclosure Taxonomy (Human Provenance in Film)](https://eugfa.org/discourse/human-provenance-film.md): An open, film-specific way to declare AI use in finished works. Directly useful for EuGFA’s emphasis on process documentation over opaque clips.
- [Guidance on the use of AI in BFI funding applications](https://eugfa.org/discourse/bfi-ai-funding-guidance.md): How a major European film fund expects transparency and lawful rights practice around assistive and generative AI — concrete institutional norms.
- [Guidelines on transparency obligations for AI-generated content](https://eugfa.org/discourse/eu-ai-act-transparency-guidelines.md): Official framing of Article 50 transparency rules, including how artistic and fictional deepfake-like works are treated. Essential European policy context for makers.
- [CNC deliberation on authors and aid](https://eugfa.org/discourse/cnc-author-requirement.md): France’s film fund withholds development and production aid for a film, audiovisual work or game unless an author wrote the script and bible. A fund-level authorship rule, in the Journal officiel of 31 October 2026.
- [AI transparency guidelines for deepfakes](https://eugfa.org/discourse/mediacampus-ai-transparency.md): NPO, DPG Media, Mediahuis and Talpa set a minimum standard, in Dutch, for when a deepfake needs the EU AI logo and where it sits in news, reality, films and series.
- [Study on Opportunities and Challenges of AI for Cultural and Creative Sectors](https://eugfa.org/discourse/eu-ai-ccs-study.md): Sector-wide EU study covering film among other creative fields — opportunities, skills and structural challenges beyond any single tool.
- [UNESCO on AI policies for the creative sectors](https://eugfa.org/discourse/unesco-ai-creative-sectors.md): Consent, remuneration, transparency and cultural diversity as policy pillars — a global frame that sits beside European regulation.
- [+RAIN Film Festival](https://eugfa.org/discourse/rain-film-festival.md): Europe’s university-led festival for AI-generated cinema — screenings plus research and critical debate. A living institutional reference for the field.
- [Supported models](https://eugfa.org/models.md): Video, image and audio models used in generative filmmaking.
- [Subscribe](https://eugfa.org/subscribe.md): Sign up for the weekly briefing.
