## What happened

Submissions to New Frames, EuGFA's European student competition for original AI-assisted short films, close on 30 October 2026 at 23:59 Tallinn time.

Films run one to five minutes. Entry is free and open to students across Europe. Three prizes are on offer: €500 for the strongest film, €300 for the best use of AI in the filmmaking, and €100 for the viewers' favourite.

## Why it matters

New Frames judges AI-assisted work as filmmaking first: the idea, the execution and whether the tools were used with purpose.

For students, it is a deadline that turns experiments into a finished, screenable piece.

## Still open

The shortlist is announced on 6 November. Public voting runs 6–14 November, and winners are named on 15 November.
