## What happened

Entries for New Frames 2026, EuGFA's AI short film competition for students in Europe, closed on 30 October at 23:59 Tallinn time. Late entries are not accepted.

The shortlist is published on 6 November. Public voting on the shortlisted films runs on the New Frames page from 6 to 14 November inclusive. Winners are announced on 15 November.

## Why it matters

For entrants, the shortlist matters most for the €100 Viewers' Favourite, which goes to the shortlisted film with the most verified public votes. The €500 Grand Prize and €300 Best AI Filmmaking are jury awards, and the rules say the jury picks the Grand Prize from all eligible entries in any category.

Jurors score storytelling and audience impact at 30%, originality at 25%, craft at 20%, creative use of AI at 15% and coherence at 10%.

Each voter has one vote in the whole competition. EuGFA removes duplicate, automated and purchased votes, and can disqualify a film from Viewers' Favourite for deliberate manipulation.

## Still open

EuGFA has not published the number of shortlisted films, the names of the jury or a time of day for the start and end of voting.

## For your film

Shortlisted entrants may be asked for proof of student status, and a winning lead entrant must verify a school email address before the prize is paid by SEPA transfer.
