## What happened

The Artefact AI Film Festival, run by Artefact with mk2, is taking entries for its third edition until 2 December 2026. Entry is open worldwide, one film per entrant.

Films may run to 314 seconds. Each must use at least one generative AI tool in pre-production, production and post-production, and entrants submit a log of the AI tools they used. Olivier Nakache and Éric Tolédano chair the jury.

The grand prize is €10,000, and three further prizes carry €1,000 each. Public voting runs from 9 December to 13 January 2027, with awards at mk2 Bibliothèque in February 2027.

## Why it matters

For a maker planning an entry, the rule sets a minimum use of AI rather than a limit. A live-action short with one generated shot qualifies only if AI also appears before the shoot and in the edit or sound.

The log is filed with the film. A dated record of each tool and version, kept from the first draft, is easier to submit than one rebuilt in December. As of 28 October, these terms appear on the festival's site and in the organisers' June announcement.

## Still open

Neither the rules page nor the June announcement gives a closing time for 2 December. The full criteria sit in a PDF that could not be opened, so rights, language and fee rules are unconfirmed.
