## What happened

The Annecy festival's helpdesk states that project submissions for Annecy 2027 open in November 2026 and run until January 2027. Selected projects get one live pitch of about 10 minutes at the Mifa market, which runs from 15 to 18 June 2027.

Any substantial use of artificial intelligence, in the submission file or in production, must be stated in the entry. When AI plays a significant role in shaping the work, its design or fabrication, a statement of intent is required. It must justify the use on artistic grounds, name the tools, assess the legal issues and set out the expected effect on the organisation of work and the production strategy.

## Why it matters

For an animation writer or producer, the AI statement is part of the pitch dossier from the first draft. Short films and TV series and specials can only be submitted by one or more of their writers; producers can submit feature films and immersive experiences. Annecy charges a fee and does not refund it if a project fails the eligibility rules.

## Still open

As of 2 November 2026, the Annecy helpdesk gives no exact opening day, closing day or time zone, and no 2027 fee amounts. The AI rule was last updated on 28 November 2025 and does not name the 2027 edition.
